What to bring and other last minute details

 

  • Registration will be in the ground in front of the venue. Please plan on arriving

      between 9.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. on Friday, 22nd August 2008.

  • Attire is casual for most of the weekend, although on Friday night we prefer that you get dressed-up for fun-filled Dinner.
  • After you arrive on Friday you are NOT permitted to leave the RYLA site and return; you must stay for the entire program. Departure is after lunch on Sunday, around 01.00 p.m.
  • If you drive your own car to Kelwe, the keys will be held for you and returned at

      departure on Sunday.

  • You must bring the 2-page Student Medical Forms with you (unless you sent it in with your registration).
  • We encourage you to bring your camera with plenty of film, your musical instrument (and sheet music) if you are a musician, and athletic shoes for the sport periods. You may keep them in your cabin if you prefer.

            Please note that we cannot be responsible for any valuables or lost items (i.e.: mp3 players, iPods, cell phones, etc…)

  • Also bring enthusiasm, energy, a desire to learn and work, and a willingness to make new friends.
  • Laptop will be provided for preparation of your presentation on Saturday evening. If you are comfortable with your own laptop, please bring it with yourself. One laptop per group of students will suffice. However, please be careful about preserving the same during your stay during RYLA.
  • Please understand that your presence at the venue must be accounted for throughout the time you at the venue. RYLA committee reserves the right to take penal action for misbehavior or insubordination on your part.

 

Keep in mind that in this RYLA setting, there will be rains and temperature will vary in any given 24-hour period, so be PREPARED.

We suggest you should bring:

  • Light jacket Wash cloths/Towels
  • Long sleeve shirts (layered clothing highly recommended)
  • Torch (extra batteries)
  • Usual clothes and special clothes, if any, for Friday evening
  • Toiletries (hairbrush, comb, toothbrush & paste, deodorant, shampoo, hand lotion, insect repellent, etc…)
  • Prescription medication or any other meds you carry must be in containers bearing

             their prescription. OR if you have “over the counter” medicines or vitamins, they  

             must be in readily identifiable containers.

  • RYLA T-shirt & RYLA Cap will be provided.

 

What NOT to bring list

  • Marking pens
  • Pocketknives or other sharp instruments (scissors, razor blades)
